Margie My Mum in law
On March 30, 2003 our family lost a very special lady, my Mum in law, Marge. I hear many complaints and bad jokes about mother in laws, but Jeff and I both agree, we could not have wished for more loving in-laws than the ones we have/had. I've decided to post the beautiful tribute her granddaughters wrote for her funeral. They say it all, right from their hearts and they spoke for us all. Thank you for showing me Your beautiful England Marge, I have such wonderful memories of our trip together. |

In Memory of our Nana, Marjorie Joan Shorter written by: Nicole and Melanie
Marjorie was a very strong woman and an inspiration to us both. She was loved by many people. There are so many ways to describe her, and the way we described her was with one word, Nana.
Raising six children, having six grandchildren and a great granddaughter we were always first priority in her life. She made sure everyone was safe and happy before she even thought about herself. Christmas time was an exciting time; we always wanted to see what silly things she had got for us. We know now, that even though we thought they were silly, she meant them from her heart.
Nana was always busy no matter how sick she was she was always doing something. She would clean things that were already clean, just to keep busy. She was always worrying about her basement. She didn't like the rain and would be down in the basement with a bucket and a mop. She was always at yard sales every Sunday and would never miss one. She also loved her tea and would never miss a cup. She would spend hours in the kitchen, backing cakes and big dinners for her family.
We had many times together, good and bad. She was always there when we needed her the most. She loved watching us and playing with us. It didn't matter to her what the game was she would just do it for us. She would hide from our parents and scare them with us. She would play "PlayStation" with Joe. She didn't care she just she loved us.
Hearing all the stories from our parents growing up and seeing her over our lifetimes, we realized what a strong woman Nana was. Losing her husband, two sons, brother and sister she would still have a smile on her face. Nana never let things get to her and was always happy.
We pictured our futures with her in them, proms, our graduations, weddings and with our children. While she won't be there physically she will always be in out hearts and memories will never die. She was the best Nana, Big Nana, mother, sister, aunt, friend and most of all, the best person. She will be greatly missed and never go forgotten. |
